Estrogen Responsive B-Box Protein (EBBP)

TRIM16; Tripartite Motif-Containing 16

Estrogen Responsive B-Box Protein (EBBP)
EBBP belongs to a subfamily within the B-box zinc finger protein family, which includes transcription factors, tumor suppressors, and proteins that regulate development. The N-terminal half of EBBP contains 2 B boxes, followed by a central coiled-coil region, and a C-terminal B30.2 domain. Northern blot analysis of several adult tissues detected transcripts of 2.6 and 2.2 kb. Highest expression of the 2.6-kb transcript was in testis, ovary, small intestine, colon, placenta, heart, and mammary gland, whereas highest expression of the 2.2-kb transcript was in skeletal muscle, heart, and testis. No EBBP mRNA was detected in liver and peripheral blood lymphocytes. EBBP expression was higher in fetal brain, lung, kidney, and liver than in the corresponding adult tissues, and an additional 3.0-kb transcript was highly expressed in fetal brain.
