F-Box And WD Repeat Domain Containing Protein 9 (FBXW9)

Fbw9; F-box and WD-40 domain-containing protein 9

F-Box And WD Repeat Domain Containing Protein 9 (FBXW9)
Members of the F-box protein family, such as FBXW9, are characterized by an approximately 40-amino acid F-box motif. SCF complexes, formed by SKP1, cullin, and F-box proteins, act as protein-ubiquitin ligases. F-box proteins interact with SKP1 through the F box, and they interact with ubiquitination targets through other protein interaction domains.Jin et al. (2004) reported that the FBXW9 protein contains an N-terminal F box, followed by 6 WD40 repeats.Jin et al. (2004) stated that the FBXW9 gene maps to chromosome 19p13.2 and the mouse Fbxw9 gene maps to chromosome 9.
F-box proteins are proteins containing at least one F-box domain. The first identified F-box protein is one of three components of the SCF complex, which mediates ubiquitination of proteins targeted for degradation by the proteasome.
