F-Box Protein 40 (FBXO40)

Fbx40; Muscle disease-related protein; F-box only protein 40

F-Box Protein 40 (FBXO40)
Members of the F-box protein family, such as FBXO40, are characterized by an approximately 40-amino acid F-box motif. SCF complexes, formed by SKP1, cullin , and F-box proteins, act as protein-ubiquitin ligases. F-box proteins interact with SKP1 through the F box, and they interact with ubiquitination targets through other protein interaction domains.
The 3-prime UTR of the transcript contains several repetitive elements, and the deduced protein contains 717 amino acids. RT-PCR ELISA detected highest expression in skeletal muscle, followed by fetal brain, adult heart, brain, and amygdala. Low expression was detected in ovary and thalamus, and little to no expression was detected in all other tissues and specific brain regions examined.
