F-Box Protein 43 (FBXO43)

Fbx43; EMI2; Endogenous meiotic inhibitor 2; F-box only protein 43

F-Box Protein 43 (FBXO43)
Members of the F-box protein family, such as FBXO43, are characterized by an approximately 40-amino acid F-box motif. SCF complexes, formed by SKP1, cullin, and F-box proteins, act as protein-ubiquitin ligases. F-box proteins interact with SKP1 through the F box, and they interact with ubiquitination targets through other protein interaction domains.
The deduced 641-amino acid protein contains a beta-TRCP (BTRC) motif, an F-box domain, and a C-terminal zinc-binding domain. RT-PCR detected highest Emi2 expression in testis, weaker expression in ovary, and no expression in other tissues examined. Emi2 mRNA and protein were detected in immature oocytes and in oocytes arrested at the second meiotic metaphase.
