FK506 Binding Protein 11 (FKBP11)

FKBP19; Rotamase; 19 kDa FK506-binding protein; Peptidyl-prolyl cis-trans isomerase FKBP11

FK506 Binding Protein 11 (FKBP11)
FKBP11 belongs to the FKBP family of peptidyl-prolyl cis/trans isomerases, which catalyze the folding of proline-containing polypeptides. The peptidyl-prolyl isomerase activity of FKBP proteins is inhibited by the immunosuppressant compounds FK506 and rapamycin. The deduced 201-amino acid protein has a calculated molecular mass of 22 kD. It has an N-terminal signal sequence, followed by a peptidyl-prolyl isomerase domain, a transmembrane region, and a lysine-rich C-terminal tail containing a variant of the dilysine motif found in endoplasmic reticulum membrane proteins.RNA dot blot analysis revealed ubiquitous FKBP11 expression, with highest levels in pancreas and other secretory tissues, such as stomach, pituitary, salivary gland, and lymph node.
