Family With Sequence Similarity 110, Member A (FAM110A)

The deduced 295-amino acid protein has a calculated molecular mass of 31.2 kD. FAM110A contains a proline-rich region and several motifs conserved among FAM110 family members, as well as a second, unique proline-rich region. FAM110A was predicted to localize to the nucleus, despite the absence of a distinct nuclear localization signal. Northern blot analysis detected a 1.8-kb transcript in nearly all tissues and cell lines examined.RT-PCR and real-time PCR showed that expression of FAM110A increased in S and G2/M phase and was lower in G1 phase in a B-cell leukemia cell line. Immunofluorescence microscopy of transfected HEK293 cells showed that FAM110A, FAM110B, and FAM110C localized to centrosomes and accumulated at the spindle poles during mitosis.
