Fibroblast Growth Factor Binding Protein 2 (FGFBP2)

KSP37; HBp17-RP; Killer-Specific Secretory Protein Of 37 kDa; HBp17-related protein

Fibroblast Growth Factor Binding Protein 2 (FGFBP2)
FGFBP2 encodes a member of the fibroblast growth factor binding protein family. The encoded protein is a serum protein that is selectively secreted by cytotoxic lymphocytes and may be involved in cytotoxic lymphocyte-mediated immunity. The predicted 223-amino acid, 28-kD protein shares 24% identity with fibroblast growth factor-binding protein-1 (FGFBP1) over 203 amino acids.
KSP37 contains an N-terminal signal sequence, a short C-terminal hydrophobic region, and 9 potential O-glycosylation sites. Immunoblot analysis showed expression of a 37-kD protein only in serum, whereas 28- and 37-kD proteins were detected in cell lysates. O-glycosidase treatment reduced the molecular mass of KSP37 to approximately 30 kD, and brefeldin A treatment inhibited secretion.
