Free Fatty Acid Receptor 4 (FFAR4)
GPR120 is a member of the rhodopsin family of G protein-coupled receptors (GPRs).The deduced 377-amino acid protein assumes a classic 7-transmembrane (TM) topology and contains an NSxxNPxxY motif in TM7. In place of the DRY motif in the intracellular side of TM3, GPR120 contains an ERM motif. GPR120 shares 86% amino acid identity with mouse Gpr120. EST database analysis indicated that GPR120 is expressed in stomach.
GPR120 highest expression in lung, followed by colon, rectum, and ileum. Lower expression was detected in adrenal gland, brain, and thymus, and no expression was detected in other tissues and specific intestinal regions examined. Mouse tissues showed a similar but slightly broader expression profile.
