Frizzled Homolog 1 (FZD1)

FzE1; Wnt Receptor

Frizzled Homolog 1 (FZD1)
Members of the 'frizzled' gene family encode 7-transmembrane domain proteins that are receptors for Wnt signaling proteins. The FZD1 protein contains a signal peptide, a cysteine-rich domain in the N-terminal extracellular region, 7 transmembrane domains, and a C-terminal PDZ domain-binding motif. The FZD1 transcript is expressed in various tissues. The predicted 647-amino acid FZD1 protein contains a signal peptide, a cysteine-rich domain in the N-terminal extracellular region, 7 transmembrane domains, and a C-terminal PDZ domain-binding motif. FZD1 shares 77% and 74% protein sequence identity with FZD2 and FZD7, respectively. Northern blot analysis revealed that FZD1 is expressed as a 4.5-kb mRNA in various tissues.
