G Antigen 10 (GAGE10)
GAGE cancer/testis antigens are frequently expressed in many different types of cancer, whereas their expression in normal tissues is limited to the germ cells of the immune-privileged organs, testis and ovary . Human melanoma cells express several distinct antigens that are recognized by autologous cytolytic T lymphocytes. Gjerstorff and Ditzel (2008) provided a review of the structure and phylogeny of the GAGE family members and presented a revised nomenclature.
Gjerstorff and Ditzel (2008) reported that the GAGE10 gene has an 8.9-kb insertion relative to other genes in the GAGE gene cluster. The GAGE10 gene contains 5 exons spanning about 12.7 kb and has a LINE insertion.By genomic sequence analysis, Gjerstorff and Ditzel (2008) mapped the GAGE10 gene to the 5-prime end of a GAGE gene cluster on chromosome Xp11.23.
