G Protein Coupled Receptor, Family C, Group 5, Member C (GPRC5C)

RAIG-3; Retinoic Acid-Induced Gene 3 Protein

G Protein Coupled Receptor, Family C, Group 5, Member C (GPRC5C)
GPRC5C is a member of the type 3 G protein-coupled receptor family. Members of this superfamily are characterized by a signature 7-transmembrane domain motif. The specific function of this protein is unknown; however, this protein may mediate the cellular effects of retinoic acid on the G protein signal transduction cascade. Two transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.
The predicted 442-amino acid GPRC5C protein contains 7 predicted transmembrane helices and conserved cysteines characteristic of GPCRs. GPRC5C also has a predicted signal peptide and a potential N-glycosylation site. GPRC5C shares 43% and 42% amino acid identity with GPRC5B and RAIG1 (RAI3).
