G Protein Gamma 7 (GNg7)

The inferred amino acid sequence encoded a G protein gamma subunit with 98% homology to cow G protein gamma-7 and complete homology to human G protein gamma-7, identified by Ray et al. (1995). Decreased expression of G protein gamma-7 in pancreatic cancer was confirmed by Northern blot assay in 12 pancreatic malignancies, including 9 duct cell carcinomas, 2 cystoadenocarcinomas, and 1 blastoma. RT-PCR assay showed no expression of G protein gamma-7 in 5 of 6 pancreatic carcinoma cell lines and 2 pancreatic cancer tissues. Immunohistochemical analysis displayed positive staining in normal tissue but no staining in cancer tissue. Shibata et al. (1998) suggested that reduced or suppressed expression of G protein gamma-7 may play an important role in pancreatic carcinogenesis.
