GH3 Domain Containing Protein (GHDC)
The deduced mouse and human LGP1 proteins contain 532 and 530 amino acids, respectively. They share 73% amino acid identity, and their N termini are rich in leucine residues. Northern blot analysis of mouse tissues detected highest expression of a 2.2-kb Lgp1 transcript in liver, with lower levels in kidney, heart, and brain. Expression was also detected in adult virgin and pregnant mouse mammary tissue, with lower expression during lactation. Immunohistochemical analysis and confocal microscopy localized mouse Lgp1 in the nuclear envelope, the endoplasmic reticulum, and to some extent in circular structures adjacent to the nuclear envelope in transfected HeLa cells. Western blot analysis suggested that Lgp1 undergoes posttranslational modification.
