GON4 Like Protein (GON4L)

GON4 Like Protein (GON4L)
The deduced protein contains 1,095 amino acids. RT-PCR ELISA detected intermediate expression in all adult and fetal tissues and specific brain regions examined.
The full-length transcript encodes a deduced 2,241-amino acid protein with a C-terminal SANT DNA-binding domain. The other transcript is truncated in intron 21 and encodes a 1,529-amino acid protein that lacks the SANT domain. Both proteins contain several evolutionarily conserved motifs. Gon4, the C. elegans ortholog of GON4L, is a cell lineage regulator of gonadogenesis. GON4L is a transcription factor that may function in cell cycle control. Northern blot analysis detected variable expression of 7.7- and 4.8-kb GON4L transcripts in all tissues examined.
