GTP Binding Protein 2 (GTPBP2)

GTP Binding Protein 2 (GTPBP2)
The deduced protein contains 514 amino acids. Phylogenetic analysis of G protein family members suggested that GTPBL2 shares homology with a distinct cluster of G proteins that includes human, mouse, and C. elegans GTPBP1 and mouse Gtpbp2. Northern blot analysis revealed a major 2.9-kb transcript abundantly expressed in heart, placenta, skeletal muscle, pancreas, and testis; expression was lower in brain, lung, kidney, and ovary.
The mouse and human proteins share 98% amino acid identity. Northern blot analysis of mouse tissues revealed a different pattern of expression than that found in human tissues, with highest expression in thymus, spleen, and testis, and lower expression in brain, heart, lung, liver, kidney, and skeletal muscle.
