Gametogenetin Binding Protein 1 (GGNBP1)

Gametogenetin Binding Protein 1 (GGNBP1)
From a yeast 2-hybrid screen of Ggn1-interacting proteins, Zhou et al. (2005) identified mouse Ggnbp1, which encodes a deduced 370-amino acid protein. Northern blot analysis of mouse tissues revealed testis-specific expression.
By RT-PCR of human testis RNA followed by BLAST analysis, Zhou et al. (2005) identified a human homolog, encoding 2 products of 88 and 109 amino acids generated by alternative splicing. By database searching, Zhou et al. (2005) identified a rat homolog but found no homologs in C. elegans, Drosophila, Fugu, or zebrafish. Human GGNBP1 showed homology to rodent Ggnbp1 only at the C-terminal end. Zhou et al. (2005) found that human, mouse, and rat GGNBP1 contain part of a domain of unknown function, DUF1055.
