Ganglioside Induced Differentiation Associated Protein 2 (GDAP2)

Ganglioside Induced Differentiation Associated Protein 2 (GDAP2)
is expressed at high level, 1.4 times the average gene in this release.GDAP2 contains 19 different gt-ag introns. Transcription produces 10 different mRNAs, 8 alternatively spliced variants and 2 unspliced forms. There are 3 probable alternative promotors, 5 non overlapping alternative last exons and 4 validated alternative polyadenylation sites. The mRNAs appear to differ by truncation of the 3' end, presence or absence of 2 cassette exons, overlapping exons with different boundaries, alternative splicing or retention of one intron. 322 bp of this gene are antisense to spliced gene FAM46CandWDR3, 295 to perrobo, raising the possibility of regulated alternate expression.WDR3 and GDAP2 genes run in opposite directions, and both promoter regions are overlapped. GDAP2 belongs to the GDAP1-10 protein family involved in signal transduction pathways.
