GOLT1A belongs to the GOT1 family. May be involved in fusion of ER-derived transport vesicles with the Golgi complex. GOLT1A maps on chromosome 1, at 1q32.1

GOLT1Ais moderately expressed, only 39.7% of the average gene in this release. GOLT1A contains 5 different gt-ag introns. Transcription produces 6 different mRNAs, 5 alternatively spliced variants and 1 unspliced form. There are 2 probable alternative promotors, 3 non overlapping alternative last exons and 2 validated alternative polyadenylation sites. The mRNAs appear to differ by truncation of the 3' end, overlapping exons with different boundaries, alternative splicing or retention of one intron. the gene has been proposed to participate in processes. Proteins are expected to localize in various compartments.
