HUS1 Checkpoint Homolog B (HUS1B)

Checkpoint protein HUS1B

HUS1 Checkpoint Homolog B (HUS1B)
HUS1B is most closely related to HUS1, a component of a cell cycle checkpoint protein complex involved in cell cycle arrest in response to DNA damage. This protein can interact with the check point protein RAD1 but not with RAD9. Overexpression of this protein has been shown to induce cell death, which suggests a related but distinct role of this protein, as compared to the HUS1.
HUS1B encodes a 278-amino acid protein that is 48% identical to the HUS1 protein.Northern blot analysis showed that expression of HUS1B in human tissues parallels that of HUS1. A 1.4-kb HUS1B transcript was observed in all tissues tested and an additional 1-kb band was observed in testis and prostate. Total HUS1B expression was highest in testis.
