Hairy And Enhancer Of Split 2 (HES2)

BHLHB40; Class B basic helix-loop-helix protein 40

Hairy And Enhancer Of Split 2 (HES2)
By searching databases using mouse Hes2 as query, Katoh and Katoh (2004) identified human HES2. The deduced 173-amino acid protein contains an N-terminal basic helix-loop-helix domain, followed by an orange domain, a proline-rich domain, and a C-terminal WRPW motif. HES2 ESTs were found in a placenta cDNA library and in several cancer cDNA libraries.
Katoh and Katoh (2004) determined that the HES2 gene contains 4 exons.By genomic sequence analysis, Katoh and Katoh (2004) mapped the HES2 and HES3 genes to chromosome 1p36.31.
Expressed in placenta, pancreatic cancer, colon cancer with RER, cervical cancer, and in head and neck tumors.
