Hormonally Up Regulated Neu Associated Kinase (HUNK)
Gardner et al. (2000) cloned a full-length mouse cDNA encoding Hunk. The deduced 714-amino acid serine/threonine kinase is 92% identical to the human protein. Immunoblot analysis detected an 80-kD protein expressing phosphotransferase activity. In situ hybridization analysis showed developmentally regulated and tissue-specific expression in fetal mice; expression was more restricted in adult mice.
By interspecific backcross analysis, Gardner et al. (2000) mapped the mouse Hunk gene to chromosome 16, in a region showing homology of synteny to human chromosome 21q22.
