Inositol Monophosphatase 3 (IMPA3)

IMPAD1; gPAPP; Inositol Monophosphatase Domain Containing 1; Golgi 3-prime phosphoadenosine 5-prime phosphate 3-prime phosphatase; Myo-inositol monophosphatase A3

Inositol Monophosphatase 3 (IMPA3)
IMPA3 belongs to the inositol monophosphatase family, encodes an enyzme that dephosphorylates myo-inositol monophosphate to generate free myo-inositol, a precursor of phosphatidylinositol, and is therefore an important modulator of intracellular signal transduction via the production of the second messengers myoinositol 1,4,5-trisphosphate and diacylglycerol.
Jaws also known as Impad1 was identified in an insertional mutagenesis screen for genes encoding secreted and transmembrane proteins essential for mammalian development. The Jaws/Impad1 locus encodes a predicted protein of ~39 kDa with an N-terminal hydrophobic domain and a consensus inositol monophosphatase catalytic motif.
