The mRNAs appear to differ by truncation of the 3' end, presence or absence of 2 cassette exons. 390 bp of this gene are antisense to spliced gene AASDHPPT, raising the possibility of regulated alternate expression. Kelch is a 50-residue motif, named after the Drosophila mutant in which it was first identified. This sequence motif represents one beta-sheet blade, and several of these repeats can associate to form a beta-propeller.
