Kelch Repeat And BTB Domain Containing Protein 4 (KBTBD4)
The N-terminus of several Kelch proteins contain other protein domains, including Discoidin, F-box, and Broad-complex, Tramtrack, Bric-a-Brac/Poxvirus and Zincfinger (BTB/POZ) domains. Kelch proteins may also have only a β-propeller architecture only. The BTB domain of kelch proteins (if present) allows the formation of homo- or heterodimers that mediate protein-protein interactions.
Homology modeling of the three KLHL7 domains shows respective similarity to (1) the BTB domain of B cell lymphoma 6 (BCL6), (2) the BACK domain of Kbtbd4, and (3) the Kelch domain of KLHL12. All three mutations that identified are within the alpha helical secondary structure α1 of the KLHL7 homology model, ascertained on the basisof the solution structure of Kbtbd4.
