Kinesin Family, Member 13B (KIF13B)

GAKIN; Kinesin-like protein GAKIN

Kinesin Family, Member 13B (KIF13B)
KIF13B contains a consensus ATP/GTP-binding motif within its N-terminal motor domain; a stalk domain containing several short alpha-helical segments; and a CAP-gly motif in its C terminus characteristic of microtubule-based cytoskeleton components. KIF13B has several putative serine/threonine phosphorylation sites and a putative tyrosine phosphorylation site. The N-terminal motor domain of KIF13B shares 98% identity with the motor domain of mouse Kif13b. Northern blot analysis revealed a single 8.5-kb transcript in all tissues tested, with highest abundance in kidney, pancreas, brain, and testis. Western blot analysis of Jurkat T cells revealed an apparent molecular mass of 250 kD, and immunolocalization revealed a punctate, cytoplasmic distribution in resting T cells.
