Ly6/PLAUR Domain Containing Protein 6 (LYPD6)

Ly6/PLAUR Domain Containing Protein 6 (LYPD6)
Members of the LY6 protein family, such as LYPD6, have at least one 80-amino acid LU domain that contains 10 conserved cysteines with a defined disulfide-bonding pattern .
The deduced 171-amino acid protein contains a single LU domain. Orthologs of LYPD6 were detected in all vertebrate species examined, and chimpanzee Lypd6 shares 100% amino acid identity with human LYPD6. RT-PCR detected variable expression of LYPD6 in all tissues examined, with highest levels in brain and heart and little expression in skeletal muscle and spleen. Epitope-tagged LYPD6 was detected in the cytoplasm of transfected COS-7 cells.
