Lens Epithelial Cells (LEC)

The lens capsule is a transparent film, which is completely surrounded by the lens. Anterior capsule with a single layer of epithelial cells, when lens epithelial cells (LEC) at the equator, continuous stretch, bend, shift to the crystalline body to form a lens fibers, and ultimately to the loss of the their nuclei and other organelles.Studies have indicated that the differentiation of lens epithelial cells and lens polarization is affected by growth factors, such as epidermal growth factor, basic fibroblast growth factor, insulin growth factor and insulin.
