Leprecan Like Protein 4 (LEPREL4)

NO55; SC65; Nucleolar Autoantigen 55kD; Rat Synaptonemal Complex Protein; Synaptonemal complex protein SC65

Leprecan Like Protein 4 (LEPREL4)
LEPREL4 Belongs to the leprecan family. This nucleolar protein was first characterized because it was an autoantigen in cases on interstitial cystitis. The protein, with a predicted molecular weight of 50 kDa, appears to be localized in the particulate compartment of the interphase nucleolus, with a distribution distinct from that of nucleolar protein B23. During mitosis it is associated with chromosomes.
This chondroitin sulfate proteoglycan is found in the conditioned medium of L-2 cells. The protein localizes to the basement membrane. The core protein also possesses the endoplasmic reticulum retrieval signal, KDEL, which suggests that, in addition to its role as a basement membrane component, it may also participate in the secretory pathway of cells.
