Lethal-3-Malignant Brain Tumor Like Protein 2 (L3MBTL2)

Human and mouse L3MBTL2 share 90.8% amino acid identity. Northern blot analysis of mouse tissues detected strong expression in testes, moderate expression in lung, kidney, brain, and thymus, and weak expression in liver, heart, spleen, intestine, and bone marrow. Expression was detected in immature hematopoietic cell lines of myeloid, erythroid, and lymphoid origin, as well as before embryonic day 7 through all stages of embryonic development. Western blot, phosphorylation, and immunoprecipitation studies demonstrated that L3mbtl2 is phosphorylated. Pulse-chase studies identified L3mbtl2 as a relatively unstable protein with an estimated half-life of approximately 4.7 hours. Fluorescence microscopy localized L3mbtl2 to the nucleus.
