Leucine Rich Repeat And Death Domain Containing Protein 1 (LRRD1)

LRRD1 Contains 1 death domain.Contains 27 LRR (leucine-rich) repeats.This domain of approximately 80 amino acids was identified by deletion analysis in the C-terminal intracellular region of the 55 kDa receptor for TNF (TNFR1). A similar region with many of the amino acids conserved has been identified in the FAS antigen. The death domain derives its name from the fact that it is involved in signaling processes ultimately leading to programmed cell death by apoptosis.The death domain is a protein-protein interaction motif allowing self-association and association between different proteins carrying death domains. The folding pattern of the death domain shows that it belongs to what is known as death domain fold, an arrangement also observed in other protein modules. Proteins containing a death domain are members of a larger protein family called death domain superfamily.
