Leucine Rich Repeat Containing Protein 25 (LRRC25)

MAPA; Monocyte and plasmacytoid-activated protein

Leucine Rich Repeat Containing Protein 25 (LRRC25)
The deduced 305-amino acid protein contains a signal peptide, a transmembrane domain, 4 leucine-rich repeats, which are often associated with protein-protein interactions, a cysteine-rich region, and a cytosolic C terminus. It also has 2 tyrosine-based motifs, one for interaction with phosphatidylinositol-3 kinase and the other an immunoreceptor tyrosine-based activation motif (ITAM). RT-PCR detected MAPA expression in several lymphoid cells, including monocyte-derived dendritic cells, granulocytes, monocytes, and B lymphocytes. Northern blot analysis detected 2.2- and 2.6-kb transcripts in several organs of the immune system, including peripheral blood leukocytes, spleen, and bone marrow, with lower expression in lymph nodes, fetal liver, and appendix, and no expression in thymus.
