Leucine Rich Repeat Containing Protein 2 (LRRC2)

Leucine Rich Repeat Containing Protein 2 (LRRC2)
LRRC2 gene consists of 9 exons and has a genomic size of at least 51 kb, with a structure typical of other human genes with a large first intron (14.5 kb).The cDNA was 4860 bp long with an open reading frame (ORF) of 1116 bp encoding a deduced 371-amino acid protein, with a predicted molecular mass of 43 kD. Northern blot analysis produced a strong signal in heart and skeletal muscle and a weak signal in kidney. The LRRC2 protein was predicted to contain 7 leucine-rich repeats (suggesting a protein-protein interaction) and 2 putative nuclear localization signals. The highest similarity to the LRRC2 protein was shown by the RAS suppressor protein 1 (RSU1). The LUZPP1 pseudogene (formerly LUZP3) was localized within the first intron of the LRRC2 gene, with an antiparallel transcription orientation.
