Leucine Rich Repeat Containing Protein 6 (LRRC6)
Leucine-rich repeat-containing 3B (LRRC3B) is an evolutionarily highly conserved leucine-rich repeat-containing protein, LRRC6 may be involved in spermatocytogenesis or prophase of meiosis. In a proteomics analysis, murine Lrrc6 was found in the photoreceptor-sensory complex consisting of the outer seg- ment and its cytoskeleton.
The human homolog (LRRC6) was identified as a testis-specific factor. Analysis of the TilB protein domain structure suggests the presence of two highly conserved domains separated by a less conserved coiled-coiled region. The protein contains an N-terminal leucine-rich repeat (LRR) domain with four clear repeats from residues 16 to 107 and two additional repeats up to residue 164 that align less well with the consensus.
