Lix1 Homolog (LIX1)

C5orf11; Limb Expression 1 Protein

Lix1 Homolog (LIX1)
Lix1 expression starting at embryonic day 8 and persisting throughout development. Lix1 was expressed in the cortical plate, subventricular zone, layer 5 of the postnatal cortex, substantia nigra, dorsal root ganglia, specific nuclei of the brain stem, and in spinal cord. Limb buds and facial primordia showed transient expression.human and feline transcripts showed 95% sequence identity in the 5-prime untranslated region (UTR), which includes a putative stem-loop structure, and 75% sequence identity in the 3-prime UTR, which includes 4 polyadenylation signals. The deduced human and feline proteins share 97% amino acid identity and contain a double-stranded RNA-binding domain common in proteins of RNA metabolism or transport. The deduced 282-amino acid human protein shares 83% identity with chicken Lix1.
