Lysine Specific Demethylase 4D (KDM4D)

JMJD2D; JHDM3D; Jumonji Domain Containing 2D; JmjC domain-containing histone demethylation protein 3D

Lysine Specific Demethylase 4D (KDM4D)
By searching for sequences similar to JMJD1C, Katoh and Katoh (2004) identified several JMJD2 family genes, including JMJD2D. JMJD2A encodes a deduced 523-amino acid protein that has a C-terminal truncation compared with JMJD2A, JMJD2B , and JMJD2C. Like those JMJD2 family members, JMJD2D has JmjN and JmjC domains, but it lacks the JDH2 and TUDOR domains. JmjN is a small domain found in the Jumonji family of transcription factors. JmjC is a putative enzymatic domain.
By genomic sequence analysis, Katoh and Katoh (2004) mapped the JMJD2D gene to chromosome 11q21, where it lies in tandem with 2 other single-exon JMJD2 family genes, JMJD2E and JMJD2F.
