M-Phase Phosphoprotein 8 (MPHOSPH8)

Mpp8; HSMPP8; TWA3; Two hybrid-associated protein 3 with RanBPM

M-Phase Phosphoprotein 8 (MPHOSPH8)
Using N-terminally truncated RANBPM (RANBP9) as bait in a yeast 2-hybrid screen of a human lymphocyte cDNA library, Umeda et al. (2003) obtained a partial cDNA encoding the C-terminal half of MPHOSPH8, which they called TWA3.The International Radiation Hybrid Mapping Consortium mapped the MPHOSPH8 gene to chromosome 13.
Using yeast 2-hybrid analysis, Umeda et al. (2003) showed that N-terminally truncated RANBPM interacted with TWA1 (C20ORF11), MPHOSPH8, and muskelin (MKLN1). Coimmunoprecipitation and gel filtration analyses demonstrated that endogenous Ranbpm and Twa1 interacted in COS-7 cells, and both proteins interacted with GST-fused human muskelin in a 670-kD protein complex in transfected COS-7 cells.
