MACRO Domain Containing Protein 2 (MACROD2)

C20orf133; [Protein ADP-ribosylglutamate] hydrolase; O-acetyl-ADP-ribose deacetylase MACROD2

MACRO Domain Containing Protein 2 (MACROD2)
MACROD2 encodes a 425-amino acid protein that is highly conserved across species. The N-terminal half of the protein contains an ADP-ribose-1"-monophosphate (Appr-1"-P) processing domain belonging to the macro domain family. EST database analysis showed expression in fetal and adult human brain, thymus, skeletal muscle, liver, pancreas, prostate, kidney, and lung. In situ hybridization and RT-PCR analysis of mouse embryo and adult mouse showed expression in brain, especially the ventricular zone, from embryonic day 12.5 through adulthood. Significant expression was also seen in teeth, inner ear, eye, kidney, and bladder during murine embryonic development.MACROD2 gene contains 17 exons and spans 2.06 Mb. The FLRT3 gene is nested within intron 3 of the MACROD2 gene.
