MON1 Homolog B (MON1B)

HSRG1 expression is upregulated in response to HSV-1 binding in human fibroblasts.Differential display analysis showed varied expression of one cDNA, HSV-1 stimulation-related gene-1 (HSRG1), in HSV-1 stimulated cells. The HSRG1 protein has a molecular mass of 59.2 kD and contains a C-terminal domain conserved in SAND family proteins. The domain includes 5 PKC phosphorylation sites, 6 myristoylation sites, a CAMP phosphorylation site, 5 CK2 phosphorylation sites, and a tyr phosphorylation site. Northern blot analysis detected expression of a 4.2-kb transcript at high levels in skeletal muscle, brain, heart, and skin, and at lower levels in liver and lung. The mammalian orthologs of SAND1, namely MON1A and MON1B, were similarly required for phagosome maturation.
