Mature T-Cell Proliferation 1 (MTCP1)

P13MTCP1; p8MTCP1; Mature T-cell proliferation-1 type B1

Mature T-Cell Proliferation 1 (MTCP1)
MTCP1 was identified by involvement in some t(X;14) translocations associated with mature T-cell proliferations. This gene represents the upstream 13 kDa protein that is a member of the TCL1 family. This protein may be involved in leukemogenesis. T-cell lymphoproliferative diseases often result from chromosomal translocations involving the T-cell receptor genes and genes that are thought to favor proliferation by virtue of their abnormal expression following rearrangement. Several genes have been identified at or near translocation breaks in immature T-cell leukemias. The gene, which the authors symbolized MTCP1, was abnormally transcribed in T cells from both patients. MTCP1 uses alternate splicing and appears to have 2 short open reading frames.
