Mdm1 Nuclear Protein Homolog (MDM1)

Mdm1 Nuclear Protein Homolog (MDM1)
MDM1similar to the mouse double minute 1 protein. The mouse gene is located in double minute (DM) chromatin particles and is amplified in the mouse transformed 3T3 cell line, and the protein is able to bind to p53. In mouse several transcripts have been described for this gene which result from alternative polyadenylation, splicing and exon usage.
Mdm1, a gene controlling resistance to Maize dwarf mosaic virus (MDMV), was identified in the inbred line Pa405. The gene was tightly linked to the restriction fragment length polymorphism marker umc85 on the short arm of chromosome 6. This chromosomal region is also the location of resistance genes to two other viruses in the family Potyviridae, Sugarcane mosaic virus (SCMV) and Wheat streak mosaic virus (WSMV).
