Membrane Associated Ring Finger Protein 6 (MARCH6)
MARCH6 is an E3 ubiquitin ligase that localizes to endoplasmic reticulum (ER) membranes. The deduced protein contains 971 amino acids and is identical to a previously reported protein, TEB4. TEB4 orthologs from several species share highest homology in their unconventional C4HC3 RING domains and TD domains. Hydropathy analysis of TEB4 suggested that it contains 13 transmembrane regions, with the N-terminal RING domain facing the cytoplasm and the C-terminal domain facing the ER lumen. Immunofluorescence analysis showed that epitope-tagged TEB4 colocalized with an ER resident marker in transfected HeLa cells. Western blot analysis of human brain lysates showed that TEB4 had an apparent molecular mass of 97 kD. In vitro-translated TEB4 associated with microsomes
