Microsomal Glutathione S Transferase 3 (MGST3)

GST3; GST-III

Microsomal Glutathione S Transferase 3 (MGST3)

Microsomal glutathione S-transferase 3 is an enzyme which catalyzes the conjugation of leukotriene A4 and reduced glutathione to produce leukotriene C4. This enzyme also demonstrates glutathione-dependent peroxidase activity towards lipid hydroperoxides.

MGST3 shares 36% amino acid sequence identity with MGST2, 27% identity with LTC4S, 22% identity with MGST1, and 20% identity with FLAP. In in vitro assays, recombinant MGST3 showed glutathione-dependent peroxidase activity and LTC4S activity. Northern blot analysis detected a 0.6-kb MGAT3 transcript in a wide variety of human tissues, with the highest expression in heart, skeletal muscle, and adrenal cortex.
