Motile Sperm Domain Containing Protein 3 (MOSPD3)
Pall et al. (2004) cloned mouse Mospd3 and identified the human MOSPD3 gene. The deduced 235-amino acid MOSPD3 protein contains an N-terminal major sperm protein domain and 2 transmembrane domains. By genomic sequence analysis, Pall et al. (2004) mapped the MOSPD3 gene to chromosome 7q22. They mapped the mouse Mospd3 gene to a region of chromosome 5 that shows homology of synteny to human chromosome 7q22. Pall et al. (2004) found that homozygous Mospd3-null mice had a right ventricle defect with 50% probability of neonatal lethality. The phenotypic defect was dependent on the genetic background, indicating the presence of modifier loci.
