Mps One Binder Kinase Activator Like Protein 2B (MOBKL2B)

MOBKL2B shares similarity with the yeast Mob1 protein. Yeast Mob1 binds Mps1p, a protein kinase essential for spindle pole body duplication and mitotic checkpoint regulation. This gene is located on the opposite strand as the interferon kappa precursor (IFNK) gene.
MOBKL2B was found homozygously deleted in MAVER1, whereas single losses were found in other cell lines. Absence or low levels of mRNA expression of this gene were found also in other samples with no genomic deletion. MOBKL2B is highly homologous to Mob1 gene, a member of the Hippo pathway, which has been involved in cancer development through regulation of proliferation and mitotic checkpoint regulation.
