Myelin Protein Zero Like Protein 3 (MPZL3)

Myelin Protein Zero Like Protein 3 (MPZL3)
The mouse Mpzl3 gene encodes a predicted type I transmembrane protein of 237 amino acids. It contains a putative signal peptide at the N terminus, followed by an Ig-like V-type domain and a transmembrane domain. The Ig-like V-type domain is predicted to be extracellular upon cleavage of the signal peptide, and the C terminus is predicted to be cytoplasmic.
The mouse protein shares about 87% sequence identity with the 235-amino acid human MPZL3 protein. RT-PCR and Western blot analyses of adult mouse tissues detected expression in a variety of organs, with highest levels in brain, heart, liver, and skin. Indirect immunofluorescence showed the protein in keratinocytes and sebocytes in skin.
