NADH Dehydrogenase Ubiquinone 1 Beta Subcomplex 4 (NDUFb4)

CI-B15; NADH-ubiquinone oxidoreductase B15 subunit; NADH dehydrogenase [ubiquinone] 1 beta subcomplex subunit 4

NADH Dehydrogenase Ubiquinone 1 Beta Subcomplex 4 (NDUFb4)
The multisubunit NADH:ubiquinone oxidoreductase (complex I) is the first enzyme complex in the electron transport chain of mitochondria.
By a combination of EST database searching and PCR, Loeffen et al. (1998) isolated human cDNAs encoding NDUFB4 and 7 other complex I subunits. The predicted 129-amino acid human protein is 74% identical to B15, the bovine homolog. Hydropathy analysis revealed that NDUFB2 and 4 other subunits have an overall hydrophilic pattern, even though they are found within the hydrophobic protein (HP) fraction of complex I. See NDUFA10 .
