NADH Dehydrogenase Ubiquinone 1 Beta Subcomplex 7 (NDUFb7)
NDUFb7 is a subunit of the multisubunit NADH:ubiquinone oxidoreductase (complex I). Mammalian complex I is composed of 45 different subunits. It is located at the mitochondrial inner membrane. This protein has NADH dehydrogenase activity and oxidoreductase activity. It transfers electrons from NADH to the respiratory chain.
The predicted 135-amino acid protein has a predicted molecular mass of 15 kD and contains a heptadic repeat of positively-charged residues that may be important in protein-protein interactions. SQM1 shares limited sequence similarity with the beta subunit of integrins, but lacks the transmembrane domain found in integrins. Northern blot analysis revealed that SQM1 is expressed as a 0.6-kb mRNA in 2 human cell lines.
