Neuromedin B Receptor (NMBR)

The NMBR), now known as BB1 is a G protein-coupled receptor whose endogenous ligand is neuromedin B. Neuromedin B receptor binds neuromedin B, a potent mitogen and growth factor for normal and neoplastic lung and for gastrointestinal epithelial tissue.the DNA from 2 panels of cytogenetically characterized human-mouse somatic cell hybrids were subjected to polymerase chain reaction (PCR) analysis using primers designed on the basis of the genomic clone. Amplification of the PCR product was shown to be restricted to those hybrids that contained chromosome 6. To further localize the gene, a second series of 5 hybrids that segregated chromosome 6 into 4 separate portions were used. In this way, the NMBR gene was regionalized to 6q21-qter.
