Nucleolar Protein 12 (NOL12)

Nop25; RRP17

Nucleolar Protein 12 (NOL12)
Nucleolar protein 12 (NOL12) is a member of the RRP17 (ribosomal RNA-processing protein 17) family of proteins. NOL12 is inferred to be an RNA binding protein that binds 28S rRNA and localizes to the nucleolus. The function of NOL12 has not been characterized. NOL12 is also known as Nop25.
RRP17 interacted with the C-terminal region of CAPS1 (CADPS), a regulator of large dense-core vesicle secretion. Primary rat neonatal cardiomyocytes infected with recombinant adenovirus expressing RRP17 secreted 2.5- and 3.5-fold more atrial natriuretic peptide (ANP) compared to uninfected or lacZ-expressing cardiomyocytes.
