Nucleolar Protein 7 (NOL7)
NOL7 gene plays a role in antiangiogenic activity.Immunofluorescence and immunocytochemical studies localized NOL7 to the nucleolus in COS-7 cells. Immunofluorescence and immunocytochemical studies localized NOL7 to the nucleolus in COS-7 cells.NOL7 expression in 3 (38%) of 8 human cervical cancer cell lines. In situ hybridization using a genomic probe confirmed abnormal NOL7 expression with loss of heterozygosity in 62 to 79% of interphase nuclei in cervical cancer samples from 3 patients.
NOL7-transfected cells had decreased angiogenesis, as detected by endothelial cell marker CD31 (PECAM1), decreased ability to stimulate endothelial cell migration, decreased VEGF expression, and increased TSP1 (THBS1) expression.
